Vortex Transport is a member of the Road Haulage Association.
Vortex was formed in October 2010 and began operations with a single 7.5 ton truck. Most of the original transports were for individual customers moving their belongings to and from the UK. European operations began a few months later with the addition of another 7.5 ton truck.
During 2011 it soon became apparent that we were being called upon to ship freight of different sizes and weights, some of which were pushing the limit for our truck at the time.
In September 2011 we purchased a DAF 18 ton truck which gave us greater capacity with an all-up higher weight limit. More drivers and loaders were recruited as we were now operating three trucks over long distances.
Throughout 2012 we continued to expand our vehicle fleet. We now have 9 vehicles from 3.5 ton vans right up to the MAN 480 and DAF CF85 artic tractor units. A variety of different trailers, curtainsider, box trailer and low-loader trailer were also purchased giving us the ability to transport anything and everything. The box trailers are perfect for full household removals. The curtainsiders make access for pallets of heavy building materials very easy for loading and unloading by forklift. The low-loader trailer is just the job for moving and re-locating large mobile homes, JCBs, motor caravans, touring caravans etc.
In March 2012 we started a full time depot and warehouse facility. The warehouse has 800 cubic metres of storage and is furnished with wooden warehouse boxes each holding 6 cubic metres. These have become hugely popular as they are totally safe within our secure warehouse. The storage side of the business is run by our sister company Vortex Storage.
With the opening of the depot we purchased a 3.5ton forklift truck along with pallet trucks. The space also allowed us to carry stock of top quality packaging materials which we use for our household removals and make available for clients to buy direct from warehouse.
Early in 2013 a further addition was made to the fleet, this being the VORTEX EXPRESS van which carries 14 cubic metres of goods. The advantage of the EXPRESS van is that is can be used for jobs where access is a problem for the larger lorries. It can be driven into city centres and is perfect for picking up smaller or single item loads.
